You are probably wondering how your environment could impact your day-to-day life.
If the first thing you see every morning you wake up is a messy bedroom, or if you walk into your kitchen and see diet books or the juicer you always say you will use. You go to your handbag, and it takes 5 minutes to filter through all the unnecessary crap to find your keys or purse. Or the best one, your car is filled with your children's rubbish, clothes, and sports gear. All of these instances impact you and can influence your mood.
Your environment might be setting you up for a good day - or maybe it's not. So I encourage you to stop and have a look at your environment to see how you are setting your day up.
I changed a couple of things; the first was my bedside locker; I threw out the diet book and the empty biscuit wrappers hiding in the back of the drawer. I did not realise the effect a drawer could have on my mood - as I looked at it, I felt that it was talking to me, just waiting to tell anyone, "this is where she hides all the empty wrappers." So I cleared everything out that was no longer serving a purpose. The weight lifted was crazy, so much so that it encouraged me to get curious about other areas in my environment.
The next thing I hit was my email inbox; it was so satisfying to unsubscribe to all those mailing lists that were no longer relevant.
Social Media needed an overhaul. I was following people that were bringing me to places of shame or guilt. Look at her. She is a mother of 3 and looks fantastic. What am I doing wrong that I can't look like that? The influencers were not at fault, but I need to take a step back and keep my feed a place of happiness and motivation.
My handbag also made it onto the list; I no longer fight with it to find my purse or key. So simple but seriously satisfying.
So get curious, and start looking at your environment to see what could be impacting your mood. I would love to hear how you found this - post your comments below.
